Opening Prayer
Eternal God, we gather as your people to worship you. By your Spirit break the bonds that hold our minds captive to the petty concerns of our lives that we may know the freedom of new possibilities. Quiet the din of our distracted spirits that we may hear your gentle voice calling us. Transform our very lives that we may go forth from this hour with deeper commitment to doing your will, with a firm assurance of your presence. Amen.
Prayer of Confession
God of grace and glory, we dare to approach again, asking for forgiveness. Too often we are silent when we should speak of our faith which inspires us. Too easily we blame others for our faults and shortcomings. Too far we wander from your path and purpose in our daily lives and decisions. Make us attentive to your presence here in worship and in each new day. Open our eyes to behold the tokens of your grace, scattered through each week, and open our mouths to both sing and speak your praise. Accept our prayer today – and hear us as we offer our confession in silence.
