Greetings friends! Let me introduce myself as the new Transitional Pastor for Christian Education, Families, and Youth here at Covenant Church. Some of you may know me already as Pastor Scott’s wife, but I have also been a pastor in my own churches for the past 20 years, and co-pastor with Scott for twenty years before that. During all those roles, education has been at the heart of what I love about being a pastor: connecting people with one another, learning God’s story of salvation in scripture, and deepening our faith as Christians who serve God by reaching out and serving others.
As such, I consider myself a life-long learner. Education, Christian or otherwise, should not stop after we leave formal schooling. In my case, I kept going as long as I could by getting two masters and a doctorate because I loved the discovery of learning new things and skills, and testing the boundaries of what I could do.
I believe when we stop learning, we stop growing. My favorite moments come when I am teaching confirmation, preaching or teaching scripture or small group class gatherings, and to see someone’s eyes light up showing they have made a connection between their life questions, God’s word, and how that influences how we live in this often confusing world. Literally, I can see the light-bulb go off—NOW I get it!
So I invite you to join me on this journey of faith discovery.
I am willing to start with two small day-time weekly gatherings in addition to our Sunday Adult class, and our Monday school class, which are already well established. More information about these two new classes is in The Covenanter
Please let me know of your interest in either of these opportunities so we can plan ahead. I am also interested in knowing anything that interests you for additional study/prayer/spirit groups. And I can’t wait to make all those connections- with you personally, with our faith in God, and one another.
