Opening Prayer
O God, we come into your precious presence preoccupied with our cares, afraid to face our emptiness. Disclose your wisdom in the reading of your Holy Word, and in the proclamation of your gospel. May our labors be pleasing to you, and may we be inspired to proclaim the good news of Jesus our Sovereign. Amen.
Prayer of Confession
Merciful God, if love is patient, why are so many irritable? If love is kind, why are so many hostile? If love is not jealous or boastful, why do so many flaunt our own achievements? In Jesus you have shown love which forgives imperfection; only in Him can we forsake childish ways. Forgive any lack of love in our lives and have mercy upon us. Accept our prayer this day, and hear us as we offer our silent and personal confession to you. Amen.
